2004 was a very successful year for the North London Wargames Group. This was largely helped by members John Colwell and Nigel Montford. They designed, created the rules for, collected unique miniatures and even made all the scenery for the game: The War of the Worlds; "London Stands Alone".

The game impressed one and all at the two shows it attended. It won the "Best Participation Game" Award at Loughton and the award for "Best Created Game" at Salute. This meant we ran a "very well presented", "fun and enjoyable" version of the game for gamers to come and join us playing. The aspect that impressed judges most was that it was created entirely from scratch!
